With all this time spent at home during this past year, we have been obsessing over ways to improve the functionality and character of our homes in the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau. In this post, we’ve provided a few home trends relevant to mountain-living if you’re a resident of the area or if you or someone you know is looking to purchase a mountain home!
More Seating Areas in 2021: Additional seating areas in the living room are important during 2021 as people are hosting more frequently and buyers are beginning to use their homes year-round instead of just during the summertime in the mountains.

Entertaining space: Today there is a revived love for “staying in” to entertain at home, and entertaining space is essential when it comes to Cashiers, NC real estate. The weather is so wonderful here any time of year, it’s great to have the option of hosting dinner parties both inside and outside on your patio.
Large Windows: An important aspect of a home to consider when purchasing or building in the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau are ways to maximize and show off the best views of the rock faces, valleys and meadows in the surrounding communities. Large floor to ceiling windows accomplish this!
Bring on the heat: Most homes for sale in Cashiers, NC have fireplaces to keep warm during the winter months, but there are also great alternatives as fireplaces can be cost prohibitive. Click here to view recommended patio heaters!
Durable Fabrics: as we’re working, learning, hosting and entertaining more at home into 2021, durable fabrics are key. Fabrics that you can wash multiple times, like linen or seagrass material and slipcovered couches and chairs to easily wash off dirt.
