Keeping up with Caliber Fine Properties: Celebrating the Spirit of Giving
It’s the most festive time of the year when friends and families worldwide come together to share peace, joy, and goodwill. And here on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau, the spirit of the season is high. A lot is happening in the world of real estate in Cashiers, NC. There’s also plenty of holiday cheer and the spirit of giving to spread.
Our team at Caliber Fine Properties is excited and grateful for the opportunities that pop up in the area this time of year—it gives us a chance to support the people, places, and communities that make our region of the state so unique. From participating in #GivingTuesday to supporting seasonal holiday charity drives, this is an especially busy time of year for our philanthropic efforts.
Giving Back with Caliber Fine Properties
At Caliber, helping buyers and sellers in the real estate market brings us into the office every morning, but the chance to help share the magic of Western North Carolina makes it all worthwhile. We are proud to support our community through several philanthropic contributions. After all, we wouldn’t be here if not for the people, organizations, and communities that make the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau such a special place to live.
This year, our philanthropic efforts helped support:
- The Blue Ridge School Education Foundation
- The Summit Charter School Foundation
- Mountain Youth Charities
- The Village Green
- The Cashiers-Highlands Board of Realtors Scholarship Fund (a group effort from everyone working in real estate in Cashiers, NC)
- And many more!
But don’t let us have all the fun. We’re challenging all of our readers to embrace the reason for the season with us. If you’re looking to get caught up in the spirit of giving, here are a few of our personal favorites:
1. The Blue Ridge School Education Foundation
The Blue Ridge School Education Foundation is one of the organizations we’re most passionate about supporting. This 501(c)3 charitable entity provides college scholarships, materials, and resources to enrich Blue Ridge School and Early College students. The foundation provides additional funding the school needs beyond what is allocated through the county, state, and federal sources.
Our involvement with this organization goes beyond financial support—Caliber’s own Ali Moody serves on the board of directors, which is comprised of fellow area residents, professionals, and business owners.
BRS Education Foundation has been making a real impact on the educational landscape of the Plateau for two decades, with an impressive track record of successful projects. In addition to annual scholarship awards, the foundation has provided funding and resources for music programs such as Junior Appalachian Musicians (J.A.M.), the Early College Fire Safety Program for Fire Fighter certification, library resources, classroom technology, and expeditionary learning initiatives.
BRS Education Foundation also hosts The Annual Nashville Songwriters’ Round every summer to benefit Blue Ridge School and Blue Ridge Early College. The 2022 event was held at the Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau, featuring Rivers Rutherford with friends Dave Turnbull, Tim James, and Kelley Lovelace. The acclaimed Nashville Songwriters have written/co-written hit songs for country singers like Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, and many more. We can’t think of a better way to enjoy mountain life while supporting an excellent cause! Visit the Blue Ridge School Education Foundation online to learn how to contribute and to stay up to date on their ongoing and upcoming initiatives!
2. Summit Charter School Foundation
Another educational effort we are proud to champion is the Summit Charter School Foundation. Support from the community helps Summit maintain its independent, tuition-free status and provide a vibrant, enriching education for students on the Plateau.
The SCS Foundation is also the host of one of our favorite things to do in Cashiers, NC, this time of year: the Festival of Trees fundraiser. Held the weekend after Thanksgiving, this annual event brings the Plateau together to get into the holiday spirit with one-of-a-kind shopping opportunities, holiday performances, and family activities.
For the main event, the community is invited to bid on gorgeous Christmas trees, wreaths, and other bits of holiday décor, some donated by other local nonprofits.
What’s really special about the Festival of Trees, though, is their unique approach to spreading the holiday spirit of giving. If a fellow nonprofit contributes by submitting a wreath or tree, 80% of the winning bid is given back to the sponsoring nonprofit, thus enriching our entire community. How cool is that? Learn more by visiting the SCS Foundation online!
